...

Hi, I am Stasya aka La Rusa.
Me and my partner , Mike , are the owners of this small magical bed and breakfast. We live here in Barra de Potosi most of the year, and hopefully will have a chance to personally greet you and welcome you to Hacienda la Rusa.
The rhythms of our bed and breakfast revolve around peace, zen, happiness, animal welfare and green practices: rescuing, sterilizations, recycling, using renewable resources as much as possible, minimizing our environmental impact in every decision we make, supporting and interacting with the local community.
Barra de Potosi is a rural, rustic and authentic mexican fishing village, 30 minutes and a world away from the major resort city of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo. Barra de Potosi is remote, basic and simple; the right place for a visitor with a taste for a cultural adventure and untouched natural beauty!
Barra de Potosi beach Playa Blanca is a beautiful 10 miles long stretch of yellow sand. Barra de Potosi lagoon is a sanctuary with over 200 species of birds, insects, lizards...

If you love adventure, nature and Mexico, this is the place to go and We are looking forward to meeting you here! La Rusa

If you're the kind of person who sees themselves as a caretaker of the earth - we're the kind of place for you.  Hotel Hacienda La Rusa B&B is proud to be environmentally responsible in our day-to-day operations. The following are some examples of how we do our part to reduce, reuse and recycle:

  • We dont cut trees, we plant trees, if we build somewhere where the tree grows, we work around
  • We use our grey water for landscaping irrigation
  • We mostly use environmentally-friendly cleaning supplies
  • We use energy-efficient appliances
  • We use only LED lighting for energy efficiency and conservation
  • We use solar lighting for patios and garden
  • We re-use old wood to build fences, doors and furniture
  • We use air dry for the linens and clothing instead of the dryer, when timing permits
  • We restore antique furniture
  • We recycle plastics
  • We use local hand manufactured ecofriendly brick for the buildings as much as we can
  • We compost food waste
  • We serve only our local Guerrero grown organic coffee
  • We are active participants of the beach clean-up party
  • We educate our employees regarding proper green practices

We’re just getting started and are open to new products and suggestions to improve!

B&B with 2 swimming pools

2 swimming pools : one pool for relaxing and another one for exercising!

When you get here, join me walking in water at our lap pool!
Water aerobics is a great exercise for many people and I will exercise with you daily.

With all the walking I do outside I am always surprised with how tired I am after walking a few lengths of the pool. And I can definitely feel it in all of my muscles including my arms. But the best part is that I don’t feel any pain in my joints.

Swimming can bother my neck and running bothers my hip. Because the water makes you buoyant, doing any exercise in water puts less stress on your joints and muscles than most other sports.

Playa Blanca

Our beach is perfect for walking and power walking. I walk our dogs every morning, a couple of residents run every day.  Walking or Running on the beach can not only be a peaceful, beautiful running experience, but it can also help become a stronger athlete, and lose quite a few calories.

beach Playa Blanca

Walking in sand requires a greater effort than walking on a hard surface. Your muscles and tendons will work harder as your foot moves around. Walking at a slower pace while your feet sink in sand requires more effort than walking fast or even jogging. Walking in sand requires 2.1 to 2.7 times more energy than walking on hard surfaces.

Come for a healthy tropical vacation!
